Hello;
Thanks for the component. I am still trying to get to know each other, so hope you can help me out to get along with it.

Well, there's one problem now that truly annoys me; I cannot understand how to customise the views or emails using the MVC model, can you guide me where to find the "easy-to-use interface for it" you mentioned on the features page , please? My expectation is something like what I used to use with RedShop, so kindly explain how to do this.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You can go in the menu Display->Views to edit all the view files of HikaShop.
Likewise, you can edit your emails via the menu System>Emails.

Thanks for the quick reply, Nicolas.
I went there and clicked the desired view to edit, but I can only see codes of php and html. I doubt that this is the " easy-to-use interface", please elaborate where can I find this interface.

Thank you again.

Hi there,

MVC is Model–view–controller, it describe the architecture of the component, meaning the view (what's is displayed) is separated from the data processing (getting the informations form the database and process them to have what we want). This architecture allow us to open the views to any customization since the php and html code you see is just used to display the information (you don't have mixed code to get datas and display it).
Since customization can mean almost everything, this is the best way we have to allow users to edit their pages.
However, there are many things which are already implemented in Hikashop and that you can easily activate without any php or html knowledge.
So just tell us what you want to do and we will help you on this specific point ;)

Hi Eliot,
Thanks for the description.

As I referred in my first post, I am expecting something like what I used to use in redSHOP, I think you may've tried their component.
So that I can customise templates with only tags using the ordinary WYSIWYG editor. So for example I can simply apply any style to any tag, or put them in a table, or do whatever I want without messing with any codes. It is pretty simple and straightforward. This is actually what I am expecting from an easy-to-use interface like what I read about, and I hope you can guide me where I can find it, because I already spent a whole day trying here and there with no hope…

Once more, I appreciate your support.
Regards

Hi,

There is no templating system in the views of HikaShop except for the address_template view files. The problem is that templating is easy but doesn't allow to do everything you would think of and things you wouldn't. On the other end view files in PHP and HTML allow you to do pretty much any kind of customization.

We mean easy-to-use in the sense that you can easily override the view files to be compatible with the MVC system without having to copy the files and edit them via FTP or loosing your changes when you udpate, not in the sense that the edition is easy since it requires PHP or at least HTML knowledge.

So basically, if you're looking for the templating edition in HikaShop, you won't find it, since there is none.

Despite it is quite disappointing to know that there is no templating edition in HikaShop, I would like to thank you for the explanation.
Well, I still want to keep HikaShop. And I hope you can help me.

Can you guide me to a documentation or tutorial to learn how to utilise the Views edition? Since I only found the address edition in your documentation.

Additionally, consider it a feature request. I think it will be added value if to include the templating edition like what is in redSHOP, as it will help some basic users as well as on-the-run customisation jobs.

Regards.

We slowly moving towards templating edition support for the main view files of HikaShop (the products/categories listings and the product page...) as well as PHP/HTML edition support so that will can meet all the needs, from novices to advanced users. But there is still some work to allow for that.

That documentation is not only for the address_template edition but for all the view files. It's just that we took for example that view file since it's short and easy to understand for beginners.
I'm not sure what kind of tutorial you're look for ? The view files are PHP and HTML code. So if you want to learn how to edit them, you basically need to learn PHP/HTML. Are you looking to edit specific views ? which ones ? If you could tell me, I could tell you which one to edit.

Hi Nicolas;

Well, it is not about the coding itself, I can manage that; however, time parameter is crucial for me. With no documentation, I am afraid this will be harder and will also take longer, and I've already spent a couple of days trying to figure out other functions I needed.

Although I had great former experience with redSHOP, I decided to buy HikaShop to be my eShopping System partner this year. A matter of fact that lead me to this decision, was a recommendation of a friend and the fascinating reviews I read at JED as well as the exclusive feature of customising the Checkout Workflow. Although I was also able to customise the Checkout Workflow on redSHOP using some coding, I liked the easy and simple way offered by HikaShop.

In the mean time, since it seems that HikaShop will not come in handy as planned, I think it may be better to postpone using it for the next year. By doing so, I will save you guys some time to enhance the templating edition, and on the other hand, I will save my time by going back to redSHOP this year.

Hence, I will appreciate it if you can process a refund for my HikaShop Business purchase at the earliest.
Upon your mentioned instructions in the Money-Back Policy , I will submit a refund request using the Contact Us form shortly.

Thanks for your help, and wish you a better product next year.
Have a great day.
Best Regards.
