I found out that you can migrate from virtuemart to hikashop ( www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...hikashop-import.html ) which sounds lovley! The problem is that the virtuemart shop is on a different joomla account from an old project I had nothing to do with.. but I can access it. So I guess if I read correctly I want to download the old shop into an CSV(?) or a text file, I heard you could get it as an excel file as well. I will figure out how to do this but what are my best options here? the virtuemart shop is on Joomla! 1.5 and the hikashop is on Joomla 3.1 I want all the products to go over to the Hikashop, but I'm afraid I will loose all the nice categories from virtuemart, could that happen?

what do you think is the best way to approach the problem?

I have the CVS file on the computer but it is a mess, what I understand I do have to format it so it fits with hikashop parameters and then upload and then it should be fine :)

Is images both thumbnail images and/or images shown on the site when you click on an article?
also how do you manage categories?

so when I put a comma in categories like books, adventure does that create a subcategory or just a second category that both contains the article?

Since none of my questions got answers I suppose I wasnt specific enough so Ill try with one question now and try to be specific:

Im modifiying an Excel file that I will convert to CVS file and upload to Hika shop. But the old CVS file I got from virtuemart handles different, so I want through my Excel file create categories and subcategories for my products. So what I have is a column for parent_category and one for categories but I suspect I need more since some of the products have 3 or more subcategories on the old site. So... parent category I totally get I place the top one there now categories, can I create several categories there including subcategorys with commas or / or something? or do I need another column for each category?

Im glad for any help I can get Ive been with this almost the whole day. thank you.

Hi,

I think that the best solution will be to create manually some categories/sub-categories and some products, then export them through a CSV file then you'll be able to see how you will have to fill the CSV file that you want to import through your Hikashop.

Hope this will help you a little.
