Im upploading a bunch (over 1000) articles via CVS to my hikashop. But there are many categories with same name but under different subcategories. so I put in 2 testarticles and exportet to see how I should write it so they land in the right one. but that did not make me any wiser. The only difference i could spot on the 2 products in different categories with same name was under categories_ordering one was 1;3 and the other 1;4. I do not understand this... can anyone help?

Hi,

Instead of using the name of the category, you can enter its id. Since the id is unique, the system will be able to attach the product to the correct category.

I tried using the category ID in a cvs file, but it only create new categories in my category tree. What column head should I use if I use the category ID?

Also if I have a category tree like:
FURNITURE (13)
BEDROOM (18)
BEDS (116)

If I have a Bed to list, would I use the ID 13,18,116 or just 116? I only want the product to appear in the sub-sub category of BEDS?

Hope this make sense. I have tried every combination I can think of without success.

Hi,

You only want to put the id of the direct categories of the product (so only 116 in your case).
The column head should still be "categories" regardless of whether you provide the id or the name of the category.

Great!!!! If I want the product to appear in 2 categories, using the CVS sheet, do I type 160,85
Use a comma?
Should there be a space?

Thanks,Barbara

Hi,

You have to put it between quotes like: "160,85"
