Authorize.net Setup

We are trying to setup the authorize.net plugin using AIM. I'm using a Sandbox account for testing purposes. The cart will create the order but will not send it to authorize.net. I can only imagine that we have not clicked a needed box somewhere. We have gone over and over the plugin and everything looks right. We don't get any error message but the customer gets an email with this statement: Your order will be processed as soon as we receive your payment.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

I found this error which you have to catch before it changes to Thank You for your Order. Our ISP said: As far php curl goes, We have curl compiled. We are going to recompile it using CUrlSSL.

They did this and we still get the error. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Hi,

And did you contact your hosting company for more information about Curl requests ?

Yes and this is what they said:

PHP compiled with CurlSSL. You can verify it with a phpinfo() call via a php script. If it does not work, you will want to work with your programmer to troubleshoot as we do not block any connectivity.

After they compiled, the connection still does not work. We have another site on the same server using Drupal and Zencart and we do not have this problem. So it must be something in Joomla or Hikashop.

Can you try to download again HikaShop on our website and install it again on yours ? Maybe there was an issue with that ?
Normally, it is not possible that the order is created if the payment is not sent to authorize.net

Regarding the connectivity issue to authorize.net, cURL tells you that the problem is that libcurl on your server does not support SSL.
Our plugin requires that so that the security of the communications is guaranteed.
Maybe the plugins you're using on drupal and zencart do not use SSL and communicate in clear with authorize.net (I don't think that you can be PCI-DSS compliant without that though...).
Anyway, you can always try to remove the SSL security by changing https to http in the URL option of the plugin.

I'll try to reinstall and see if it makes a difference. The order is created and an email is sent to the customer with this note: Your order will be processed as soon as we receive your payment.

So did you follow my advice and tried to change the https to http in the URL option of the plugin ?

Not yet. Do you mean the url to authorize.net?

Changing the url did not make any difference. I'm still getting the same error and it's not connecting to authorize.net.

I found the problem. I can't believe it. I've checked this several times, but there was a space in front of the url. :side:

Might be something you want to address because Hikashop put in that space by default.

Thank you for the feedback.
That's actually already fixed on our end. But since it's a default value, once you save it it's in the database, so even with the fix, you still have the problem as the space goes in the database with the URL that you enter in the field.

What's strange about that, is that we didn't originally enter anything. It was already there in the authorize.net plugin, and already there with a space. When I changed the original, I just highlighted it and pasted in a test url. The test url could not of copied with a space, so the only explanation is that the space was already there and put there by Hikashop.

I'm just glad I finally found it and I hope Hikashop is fixed because that is a pain for a newbie to have to deal with. It took me 2 days of research to discover that I needed to look for a space in front of the url.

Yes you're right. HikaShop was putting the URL with a space at the beginning by default. That was the bug that we fixed now so it won't happen to new installs anymore.

It's indeed a pain to find, especially that the error message sent back by cURL was putting us on the wrong track.

That's good to know. We installed Hikashop over a year ago and just now are getting ready to implement it. So we missed that fix apparently. We had 3 new websites to get up and running and it just took longer than I ever imagined. Thanks for your help. I'm sure there will be a few more hiccups. This is a great forum.
