The feature in Modules that allows you to choose the ordering field
In our case, published. This simply does NOT work the way you expect.

We have several products, usually we will make available once a week.
based on publish date. When using the module to show what products were the latest, based on publish date
in descending order. It still does not show the correct products.

The only way I can get it to show is based by created. or maybe modified.

Is this a bug ?

Hi,

There is no published date for products. There is a product_published field which has either a value of 0 or 1 if the product is published or not. So ordering on it doesn't mean anything since anyway you only see the published products on the frontend.
So no, it's not a bug.

OK, so than how can we show a list of the most recent products that have been published ?

Also among the options for [Ordering field] listing I see " product last seen date "

What is that exactly ? and where is that date derived from ?

There is no such information in the products data so you can't.
You can order the listing on the product_modified column in order to get the most recently modified products if you want instead.

Ya tried that..
BUT you have to go into to each, in the order that you need displayed..

I wish you guys could come up with something to achieve.

Then why not use a custom product field where you would enter the number you want for each product ?
Or use the "product sale start date" ?
