i filled in the meta description and keywords for my products, but when viewing the code on the front-end it still uses my default meta description and keywords. How come?

Could it be that your pages are cached by something on your website or a CDN and thus your don't see the keywords even though they are properly displayed with the cache/CDN turned off or cleared ?

Otherwise, maybe a third party SEO extension installed on your website is overriding the meta data set by HikaShop on the pages ?

i did not install a 3d party seo extension.

this seems to be a problem for the product page only. because for the categories it does show the meta data and keywords properly.

Hi,

Do you have multi-language translations with joomfish or falang ?
A link to your website ? A screenshot of a product in your backend (in order to check that metas are right filled in the backend and not display in the front-end).

Thanks,

No i don't have joomfish nor falang installed.

Do i have to enable a plugin or something? to activate the meta data on the product page? I did exactly the same for the categories but for the category page it does work (meta data filled in is visible while viewing the source of the page).

screenshot attached.

Hi,

I am sorry but, without a link to your store I can't check anything.
I can clearly see that you filled some meta data in the product page but without more information I can't help you correctly.
