-- Joomla version -- : 2.5.19
-- PHP version -- : 5.3.28
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : latest Chrome

Is there some way to sell products at a price the customer decides? ie. I set a minimum price and anything over that is accepted.

Something like on Bandcamp:
zantilla.bandcamp.com/album/encounters
The minimum for this album is $2, but there is a field where customers can enter their own custom price.

Is this already possible somehow?

Hi,

tags : hikashop, custom, price

See a direct example of the donation plugin.
demo.hikashop.com/index.php?option=com_h...show&cid=214&lang=en
If you want to put a minimum value check, you will have to create a new custom plugin to add your custom code (it will require some PHP skills).

The problem with that is that I do not use the Hikashop product pages. I create custom product pages and just put an add-to-cart button at the top. See an example:
nucleus-soundlab.com/products/refills/re...-rack-extension.html

So this isn't on the radar for a future feature update? I think this is a really important direction for Hikashop. Lots of other carts and payment processors are offering it. See how Gumroad handles it:

Hi,

I don't see the problem with what you want. Regardless of whether you're using a HikaShop product page, or just the HikaShop content tag (in order to have the add to cart button anywhere on your website), you can get a custom field next to it so that the customer can enter a value in it and have the donation plugin use that value as the price of the product which is added to the cart when you click on the add to cart button.
So HikaShop already does that.

Ok, fair enough. I guess the problem is I don't know how to implement this. Is there documentation somewhere?

Hi,

So first step is to follow the instructions of the link Jerome gave you in order to get a product page with the custom field working as a donation input field.
Once that's working, you can just add a content tag on your Joomla article in order to display the add to cart button for that product and it should display automatically the fields if you turn on the display of the custom fields option of the HikaShop configuration.
You can read more about the content tags of HikaShop on this page:

Thanks for that. But without any way to configure a minimum price, people will pay $0 or maybe $0.01. Anything less than $1 is basically eaten up by payment processor fees. I don't mean to be rude but this feature is not useful for pay-what-you-want sales right now. Only for donations.

I wish you would consider developing this feature further. A quick check of payment services like Selz, Gumroad, Simplegoods.co, Sendowl all offer comprehensive pay-what-you-want features. Some even offer the ability to increase the amount of your payment, after the product is purchased! (if you decide the product is really good after trying it).

Hi,

There is indeed no restriction system in the custom field options for that for now.
That could be a good idea.
Note however that you could create several instances of your payment methods, using the minimum/maximum price restriction options and the "price" option of the payment methods in order to apply a minimum fee under a certain amount entered for the price to pay.
