Override search plugin

Hello,
I would like to make some changes on hikashop product search plugin (just to let the results elements points to the correct menu item).
Is there a way to override it avoiding losing my changes on update ?

Hi,

You can duplicate the plugin, rename it and occurences of its name in the code, than install it via the Joomla extension manager, this way you are sure that your plugin will not be overrided when updating.

Then there is no "real" override...?
