Hi,

We have a weird problem in the backend with the editor (jce) in the product section. When we save and close a new product and reopen the product to make changes, the editor (jce) is no longer clickable, the entered text has disappeared at first glance, but under the tab 'code' the text is visible and editable.

The strange thing is when we turn on the Debug System and go back to the product, the text is visible and jce is editable again.

What could be the cause of this?

Hi,

It's hard to say what would be the cause.
However, we had someone who reported to us a similar issue he had, which we were not able to reproduce. In the end, he was able to make it work for him:

So maybe you could first check the exchanges we had there and see if you can figure out the source of the issue from that.

Hi Nicolas,

I have read the article but i don't use browser extensions in any browser or google drive for that matter. I can confirm that it has to do with the Form customization. After clicking "Reset to default view" in Form customization jce is released and the text is visible/editable.

In chrome and edge the problem is exactly the same. Only after "Reset to default view" the text is editable. After saving a product and reopening a product, you must first click on "Reset to default view" again under Form customization to edit.

When I look through inspector, there is the following warning when the product page is open; "This page is in Quirks mode. Page layout may be affected. For default mode, use '<!DOCTYPE html>'." No idea if it affects the jce editor, but after clicking "Reset to default view" this warning is gone.

The problem still persists.

Hi,

Could you provide a backend access so that we could check the situation ?
If so, please use our contact form and include a link to this thread for reference :

Hi,

I got your access but I'm not able to reproduce the issue:

I also tried in Dutch, and with several browsers but it just works.
Are you able to reproduce the issue with the user account you provided ?
Are you able to reproduce the issue on another computer ?

I also don't see any message in the console of my browser, even though I didn't click on the "Reset to default view" button.

Hi Nicolas,

The problem persists no matter which account or other device. We even installed a new browser (brave) and we have the same result. Something is blocking it, but we don't know where the problem is. At least we know how to make it editable, it's not ideal but it will have to do for now, maybe we'll find out in the future...

Thanks for your time and the assist.

Hi,

You could try switching to another editor like TinyMCE with the "editor" setting under the advanced tab of the HikaShop configuration.

What's strange is that I don't have the issue when I try on your website. So maybe it is linked to your location ? Maybe there is something blocking some javascript file on the page on your end while it doesn't do it on my end, like a firewall, or a proxy rule, or something.

Hi Nicholas,

The problem was indeed local, after reading about javascript you gave me another idea. JCE editor itself.

  • In JCE - Control Panel
  • Profiles text editor
  • Default
  • Text editor parameters
  • Advanced
  • Code blocks
  • Set Allow Javascript to yes
  • Save JCE
Went back to products and JCE is working properly again, problem solved.

Thanks again for your time and the assist, definitely appreciate it.
