Odd placement of back and forward buttons on product images

Hi,

I am building a webshop and a catalog together and with your directions I did solve many problems already. But now I have some odd placement of the back and forward buttons (chevrons). As you can see in the picture the placement is about 150px off. So somewhere the must be a calculation of the right placement, but it looks there is some offset in there that should not be there.

All images are 300 x 300 px.

Can you give me some directions where to look?

After two days of searching, it really was in the CSS. In the style_custom.css there are two lines on which the alignment was forced to center, Disabling both of the lines solved the problem. If either one was left there was no change.
Your answer gave me the certainty that there was no javascript calculation which could be of influence of the placement. So I had tot search deeper and just be brave to disable lines...
