The "YYYY payment notification: payment cancelled" email means that either the payment gateway couldn't finish successfully the transaction, or that there was a problem with the transaction details. For example, if the amount paid by the customer is different than the amount of the order in HikaShop, HikaShop will cancel the order so that you can take the appropriate measures as either the customer tried to mess with the system to pay less than required for his order, or something is not configured properly.
Also, when this happens, the PayPal Checkout payment plugin will log details about the issue in the "payment log file" available under the Files section of the HikaShop configuration. So please check in there. If you could provide its content via our contact form, we could check the log to figure out what's wrong.

Having a typo in the product code won't change anything.
However, can you check the transactions on your PayPal merchant account ? Are the payments valid there ?
Could you also provide a screenshot of the settings of the PayPal Checkout payment method ?

Hello Nicolas, Thank you for your fast response.
The problem is the PAYMENT gets cancelled.The sequence of emails is:
The person registers as part of the payment
email 1 'Account details for XXXX at webdomain.org ' (time 7:14 and all is correct on backend)
email2 'A new order has been created on your website' (say for order YYYY - at time 8:05 and again all is correct on back end)
The person makes the payment either by PayPal or Stripe, then
Email3 'YYYY payment notification: payment cancelled' (time 8:06 and on backend payment is cancelled)
All people trying to order have emailed me that they didin't cancel anything and that their their order payment went through and that they were surprised when the order cancelled.
Everything was working normally (a sit has been for the last several years) until yesterday ( 2 July )after I chnanged the PayPal payment plugin to the new PayPal Checkout on 1st July
The PayPal Checkout plug in was configured correctly and client authentication was successful. Now checking PayPal Checkout configuration while writing this message, I see client authentication for PayPal Checkout has now failed.
Nothing else has been changed in Hikashop (or any other part of the site) except the PayPal Checkout and the upgrade today of Hikashop to 5.1

The "send order details" setting has been added to the PayPal Checkout plugin with the new version. So if you turn off that setting in your PayPal Checkout payment method after updating your HikaShop, you should then be able to keep the "round prices during calculations" setting turned off while avoid the AMOUNT_MISMATCH error.

So the problem is that with the "Round prices during calculations" setting activated, HikaShop will round the price without taxes before the calculations are done.
So if you have a price without taxes at 16.625, HikaShop will round the price to 16.63 before calculating the taxes and summing up both to get 19.96
I understand why you don't want that. In that case you would have to turn off this "Round prices during calculations" setting. We made it especially for this.
However, if you do that, then you can potentially get MISMATCH errors with PayPal. That's because PayPal only accept 2 decimals and it calculates itself the prices and check that the total it calculates corresponds to the total the PayPal plugin provides.
To avoid that, the only option is to turn on the "Round prices during calculations" setting setting so that HikaShop will make the calculations like PayPal, basing itself on prices with 2 decimals.
But in that case, you won't be able to get 19.95 in your example.
I'm afraid I don't have a quick solution here. The solutions I can think of would be:
- For PayPal to not recalculate the total and just take into account the total amount provided by the PayPal plugin
- For PayPal to allow for more decimals for the items in the order so that the PayPal plugin could provide more accurate prices which would allow it to reach the same total as what HikaShop can calculate with the "Round prices during calculations" setting turned off.
- To add an extra setting to the PayPal plugin to be able to not send the details of the order, just the total amount. That way, there is no calculation needed on PayPal's end. We'll look into adding this for the next version of HikaShop.

Thank you for the details.
I don't see anything strange with your plugins list or your screenshots.
There is one thing I find strange. In your SQL file you can see the "order_created" and "order_modified" values of the orders.
So if we take the orders with the order_id 144 and 145, you can see that :
- The order 144 is created at 1716038196. As it is not modified after its creation, the order_modified has the same value.
- The order 145 is created at 1716038198 so this means 2 seconds later.
- The order 145 is then modified at 1716038214 (for the confirmation of the order after the payment), so 16 seconds after its creation.
This is strange with the process you provided:

- user clicks on the "finish" button at the end of the checkout
- HikaShop creates the order for the cart (created)
- selected payment plugin display the payment form
- paypal-form opens
- user pays for the order (finished the payment in paypal)
- HikaShop creates a second order for the cart (funded)
- the cart is cleared

This would mean that between the click of the "finish" button at the end of the checkout, the display of the paypal buttons, the click on one of them, you providing the necessary information to paypal for the payment, only 2 seconds would happen, which is impossible.
And then, after that, the second order would be created and confirmed 16 seconds later without any reason for this delay.
What I proposed as a possible scenario in my first reply is much more likely based on the timestamps of these orders.

Could you please double check your scenario ? I'm thinking you might have been confused somehow.

I have executed 2x orders again and as you can see, a duplicate order is created in each case. I have shown screenshots of the order details and exported the Hika order table entries as a ZIP. I have not found any third-party tools or external solutions. I have deleted all deactivated PayPal plugins in the system administration. Since the orders also end up directly in the Hikashop, it would have to be a 3rd party tool for the Hikashop, which I don't have.

Hello,

The IPN is the "Instant Payment Notification" ; it describe the way that Paypal is contacting your website in order to notify that a payment is being processed.
It's used for regular payment confirmation, but also for recurring payment.

Since the IPN is a notification send by Pyapal to your website ; we need to be sure that Paypal called the right URL (for the right payment plugin), with the right parameters and we need to have details regarding what your website replied to that notification.
All these information should be available in your Paypal IPN log.

Thank you for the new details.
We d not have the IPN logs from Paypal but the fact that you do have an order created in your HikaShop backend is a big difference between what you described before.
So, if you do have an order but that order is "cancelled", it means that the HikaShop recurring system duplicate the order but the coupon was not include ; thus the order total was not equal the Paypal payment price so the order couldn't be configured and marked as cancelled instead.
So it means that HikaShop recurring system can't duplicate an order with an expired coupon. That's something I need to discuss with the HikaShop core team in order to work on a patch in HikaShop.

So the recurring was triggered by Paypal at 13h48 ; which is hours before the expiration of the subscription.
Do you have more details regarding the IPN log ?
We can see that the HikaShop payment log doesn't show errors, but you paypal recurring is not in debug mode, so it won't trace a log for every transaction. So it's hard to know if the plugin has been called. That's why we need more details from paypal IPN log.

here are some details, please see the attached files.
On April 30, an order was placed for a 1 euro product using a 10% coupon. The order was paid 0.90 euros by Paypal.
On May 3, PayPal paid 0.90 euros again, but Hikashiop did not issue the new order.
Please note that the 10% discount coupon expired on April 2nd

First, please note that we are not linked to the development of this extension.
It was developed by a third party developer years ago. And we reference it on our integration page, like we reference many other extensions made to be compatible with HikaShop, most of them not developed or supported by us.
So, we won't be able to help you directly with any issue you might find in that extension.

If I read about this extension on the Joomla Extensions Directory ( extensions.joomla.org/extension/hikainvoices/ ) it says that it is compatible with Joomla 3 and Joomla 4, but it doesn't mention anything about Joomla 5. Also, the latest version was released more than 2 years ago, well before Joomla 5 was released. So I'm surprised you were even able to install it on your website, if you're on Joomla 5.

This extension is developed by the company Edwin2Win, which mainly works on the extension JMS Multisites:

As per its page on the JED ( extensions.joomla.org/extension/multi-sites/ ) this extension is still maintained and compatible with Joomla 5. They also provide more contact details on their contact page include their phone number:

Since it's been one month they didn't answer your ticket, I would first recommend phoning them to check what's going on.

But I suppose they won't be able to come up with a Joomla 5 support in a few days or weeks. So it's likely you'll have to ask for a refund through PayPal.

The paypal IPN should have created a new order in your backend, for the renewal.
Can you see that order in your backend ?

If the subscription became expired, we need to see the history in order to understand the order of events.
If you do have the renewal order, it should be linked to the subscription and perform the extension of its duration.
We need more details regarding your issue in order to investigate in the right direction.

Before the line:You can add the line:in the file plugins/hikashoppayment/paypalcheckout/paypalcheckout_end.php

That's actually a modification that we already made on our end for the next version of HikaShop.
